  • Obverse: Design in violet with frame-like border. On the left, portrait of Simon Bolivar inside an oval from unknown author. On the right, inside an oval, portrait taken from the litography of Lemoine about the Marshal of Ayacucho, Antonio José de Sucre. In each corner the value in words "DIEZ" «ten». In the center, the denomination value "10", below the denomination in words "DIEZ BOLIVARES" «Ten Bolívares» and the payment clause "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO" «Payments to the Bearier in the Offices of the Bank». On the top, the issuer name "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA" «Central Bank of Venezuela».
  • Reverse: Design in violet with frame-like border. In the center, Monument to Carabobo by Antonio Rodríguez del Villar, site which Bolívar achieved the independence of Venezuela on June 24th 1821. On the left, the denomination value "10". On the right, Coat of Arms. In each corner the value in words "DIEZ" «ten». On the bottom, the denomination in words "DIEZ BOLIVARES" «Ten Bolívares». On the top, the issuer name "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA" «Central Bank of Venezuela».
  • Common name: This design had as common name "Orejón" (big ears) and it was retired out of circulation early because the inhabitants rejected the exaggerated and ugly engraving of Simon Bolivar and Sucre. Banknotes of Design A, Design B and Design C (before 1963) was known as "Cara Volteada" (turned face) because the face direction of the Marshal Sucre, which portrait was changed in banknotes design after 1963 (Design E).
